Where the river meets the sea

Here, where the river meets the sea, residents enjoy the water all year round. During the winter season, when the river is covered in ice, many take walks, go skiing, or ride kicksleds or snowmobiles out towards the sea, which is also frozen. Majestic white landscapes await.

Kalix Löjrom (Kalix Caviar)

Kalix is scenically located where the mighty national river, originating from the Kebnekaise massif, meets the sea. In this meeting of fresh and salt water, the world’s largest brackish water archipelago is created, the condition for Kalix Löjrom.
