The villages of Nyborg, Storön, Ryssbält, and Pålänge offer a unique lifestyle on the Kalix coast where the sea shapes daily life. Pålänge and Nyborg–Ytterbyn are the area’s service centres, where you’ll find everyday conveniences such as a grocery store.

There is a preschool and a primary school (K–6) in Ytterbyn.
Pålänge has a preschool and an after-school centre and children from Pålänge attend school in Innanbäcken.

In summer, Marahamn becomes a natural meeting place – Kalix’s largest marina – where you can stroll along the piers, buy a treat from the kiosk, or sit down and enjoy the sea breeze.

Discover The Trail of Seven Orchids in Storön – a unique walk lined with rare plants. In Nyborg, you can follow the wheelchair-accessible nature and culture trail along the shoreline, or visit Byträsket with its rare bog myrtle, or take in Inre Gölen, a botanical gem. Bird enthusiasts will find Ytterfjärden–Arrasfjärden an easily accessible paradise.
